Assignment - Which is better Old or New Anime - (Similarities and Inspirations)

For the last part of this I want to talk about not the differences of new and old animes but the similarities, old anime as a given is the bases for all anime with out that we wouldn’t have any of what we have, today modern creators take allot of inspiration from old animes usually from the ones they like and watched, sometimes even without realising it I know I’ve thought of a great idea and then did a bit off research and realize that I’ve totally ripped something off I saw in the past without knowing, for example almost all mecha animes have take inspiration from gundam which is without a doubt the most popular mecha anime out there and one of the most famous animes ever created.

This also relates to when I mention One piece and how its still running even though it is considered an old anime Gundam however is not quite the same as one piece, one piece is just a straight long running anime that follows the same characters were as Gundam is different it has various story line that sometimes link some time don’t (in the past they almost always did) where as now there are completely new storylines with new characters and the only thing that links them is the word gundam (Gundam is the name of the Main characters robot/mobile suit as they call them on the show)

Below is an image of the original gundam created in 1979, the art style was very simplistic and motions where limited but none the less it was still revolutionary because of its ideas and storyline.

Now here is the most up-to-date gundam series released in 2015 there is clearly a staggering difference in the twp however there are still similarity’s notice the colour of the robot it still sticks to red white and blue and allot of the ideas in the story are simlar revolving around having a small group of misfortunate individualls that have been forced into fighting.

Another thing that has stayed the same is the facial structure of the mobile suit, there are allot of similarities between the two one being the horns that have been a recurring theme on almost every main gundam series.

After looking at gundam let me show you a few more examples of how gundam has influenced mecha animes today

By far the most modern mecha anime i have come across that isn’t gundam, this is just one genre and you can clearly see that inspiration has been taken from old sources this i think is a clear fact that we cannot have a definite answer between which anime is better old or new because in a way they are both the same however this is just my opinion on one specific genre and aspect of the question we are discussing and trying to answer.

As i said at the start this is not a question I feel can be answered correctly as it goes of peoples opinions its unto you whether you like an anime made in 1980 better than modern ones and if that’s your basis of reasoning behind saying you like old animes better then no one can say your wrong, to try and get a good response to this question i believe the perfect candidates are those who have watched allot of anime both new and old and have knowledge on both.

I don’t think age is problem here unless they are really young and have only seen new ones in which there opinion would be biased and unjustified, the purpose of this article was to give you details and a quick bit of knowledge on both old and new anime but my plan now is to find out what you guys think.
