After recentlly discovering the series and thouroughlly enjoying the first issue, i decided to pick up the second one last week and i wasnt in the least bit disapointed the story follows gertrude a young girl who travles to fairyland against her will and then despratlly trys to find a way home, 27 years later she still looks like the same little girl however she has been turned into an axe wielding Pychopath and driven insane form being there so long.

Gertrude kills who she wants and takes what she wants at the end of the last issue we see a tall barbarian character armed to the teeth and we learn at the start of the second issue that he was hired by the royalty of the land to kill gertrude, however that doesnt go acording to plan as we see gertrude in a drunkened state talking to the severed head of said barbarian, throughout the issue we see a mini story while gert is in the bar and she spurts out drunken splurs about why she hasnt aged and she wishes she could be a normal person after saying this she transforms into a extremlly overweight version of herself and the barman informers her that she has been drinking a beverage that makes wishes come true, the story is not resolved as when the story returns to gerts main adventures she reverts back to her usually self, the side story adds a fresh piece of humour taking away from all the sensless killing and eating of the townsfolk (who are made of candy) and adds new humour so that we are still entertained.

going beck to the main story gert is looking inside a cave for some object she can use to take her back to her world howvere we later see as she steps out of the cave she is actually inside a giant monsters stomacha and in the background we can see that this isnt the only one she has searched, after gert finds nothing she makes herway to a small village, it appears to be abbandoned and teh strips cut to a witch character who can raise the dead she creates an army of zombies to fight off gert and the issue ends with gert surrounded by thousands of zombies.

I hate fairylands second issue is more of the familiar humour that the first issue gave us so if you enjoyed the first issue or are a fan of scottie youngs work i would definatlly recommend it, the series is cutsy by naked eye using bright colours and fantasy esk themes hwoever when you get right down to it its a dark story about a girl who is trapped and despretlly wants to get back.

Pros

- same humour as the first issue with twists so if you enjoyed the first one you will love this

- adds new themes such as magic and zombies which are always fun

cons

- the issue ends on another cliffhanger and im not a fan of those
